What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I've been tutoring for over 6 years, and really enjoy getting to see the development that students make - especially in terms of confidence. While the grade at the end does matter, the successes I've found most rewarding are when young people discover enjoyment in subjects they previously disliked, or gain confidence that transfers over to other subjects. Especially in some cases, I've really enjoyed working with students who haven't got along well with highly traditional teaching methods, and being able to show them that learning can be enjoyable and taught in ways that they actually enjoy.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Every session and every student are different. As a tutor, one of my strengths is to lean into that - rather than needing to follow a strict classroom plan we can work together to support exactly what the student needs. Feedback from parents and previous students has assured me that one of my strengths is creating an environment where the student feels comfortable to ask questions, control the session and make sure they're getting the most out of their time. I've had students for one subject book in sessions for another subject, and had returning students from previous years.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

While grades do matter a lot, my priority as a tutor is to ensure that students gain confidence and enjoyment in a space where they can ask as many questions as they like and feel as supported as possible. As a tutor, my job is not to replicate a classroom lesson but be able to provide personalised support for each student. I also aim to be as approachable as possible so they feel they can be transparent with what works and what doesn't work for them personally.
