What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I'm a big fan of puzzles and solving hard problems, and I see teaching as its own complicated puzzle. Learning something is actually much easier than teaching it. Teaching means finding a way to present your own understanding so it genuinely lands with the person in front of you. Every person learns differently, and I really enjoy figuring out the specific "way in" for each individual, rather than sticking to one fixed explanation for everyone. That moment when someone finally "gets it" is genuinely satisfying, and it's what I enjoy most about tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my biggest strength is being good at finding the specific "way in" for different people. Everyone learns differently, and the explanation that clicks for one person won't necessarily click for another. I don't stick to one fixed way of explaining something, I pay attention to what the person in front of me actually needs and adjust from there. That comes from 15 months of one-on-one guitar tutoring across a wide age range, where I had to constantly adapt my approach, from storytelling for younger kids to more direct explanation for adults.
On top of that, I enjoy maths itself.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Making your understanding actually land with the student, not just repeating the same explanation. Notice when something isn't clicking and try a different angle. Keep them engaged, especially younger students, and be patient; needing a few tries to click isn't a failure. Ultimately, build their confidence as much as their knowledge.
