What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

enjoy the moment when a concept that felt completely opaque suddenly clicks for someone, especially when it happens because of a small shift in how I explained it, not because I gave them the answer. Through running technical workshops for the SRMIST ACM SIGAI chapter, I found I got more satisfaction from watching a student figure something out themselves than from presenting polished material. Tutoring lets me focus on that one-on-one moment of understanding rather than a room full of varying skill levels.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I'm good at meeting someone where they actually are, rather than where the syllabus assumes they are. Organising more than 65 technical events for a very mixed audience taught me to read quickly whether someone is lost, bored, or nearly there, and adjust on the spot. I also default to asking questions rather than just explaining, since I think a student remembers a concept much better when they arrive at it through their own reasoning. And because my own background spans AI, software and research, I can usually find more than one way to explain the same idea until one of them lands.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Build their confidence alongside their knowledge. A student who's afraid to be wrong won't ask the questions that actually move them forward, so I think the tutor's first job is to make it safe to not understand something yet. Beyond that, I think the most valuable thing a tutor can do is teach a student how to think through a problem, not just how to solve the one in front of them, so they leave more capable of tackling the next one alone.
