What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I like about tutoring the most is being able to assist someone in going from not knowing something to understanding it. Instead of making the student understand the concept the way I do, I like trying to come up with various explanations for them until the student understands what I am talking about. From my work at the University of Melbourne Language Exchange Club as a Language Host where I tutor beginner Hindi, I have seen how satisfying it can be to help people learn a language and use it confidently.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my biggest strengths are patience, communication and attention to detail. I’m naturally quite conscious of grammar, structure and clarity, which has developed through my own university work as well as my experience as an editor and proofreader. I’m also comfortable breaking down something complicated into smaller, more manageable parts. Through teaching beginner Hindi, I’ve learned that being a good tutor is not just about knowing the material, but being able to recognise when someone needs a different explanation or approach.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
According to me, the main function of the tutor is to inspire his or her student to question and make mistakes boldly. The tutor should be tolerant enough to hear the problems of their student and clarify things without making them feel embarrassed. Besides, they should guide the student to become an independent learner by learning to solve the problem independently.
