What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy tutoring because I get to teach the subject that I used to like a lot back in my days and I still am pursuing my Masters degree that is related to maths and physics.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor would be persistence, perseverance and patience in teaching students because it is quite common for students to feel apathy towards studies specially when they start to sound complex. With patience, I always try to understand different mindsets of different students so that it is easier for me to make them understand topics that they find easier in their own way.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

A tutor's responsibility does not always revolve around forcing students to learn something in a way that makes them apathetic. So I would say the most important thing a tutor can do is to get to know someone better and find different ways that does not feel or sound abstruse. The motto should be making difficult things sound simple not making it more complex than it already is.

About Monim Hasan

Engineering & Mathematics

Hi, I’m Monim, an Electrical Engineer and Master of Electrical Engineering student at The University of Queensland. Mathematics has always been an important part of my academic and engineering journey, from problem-solving and analytical reasoning to advanced engineering applications. I enjoy working with students and making mathematical concepts easier to understand by breaking complex problems into simple, logical steps. I aim to create a friendly environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.

My Approach to Teaching

I believe that understanding the “why” behind a mathematical concept is more valuable than simply memorising formulas. My approach is patient, structured and tailored to each student’s level of understanding. I first identify where a student is struggling, then work through the concept step by step using clear explanations and examples. I encourage students to attempt problems themselves, ask questions, and learn from mistakes so that they gradually become more confident and independent learners.

Why I Tutor Maths

I enjoy mathematics because it develops logical thinking, problem-solving and confidence—skills that extend far beyond the classroom. I want my students to see maths as something they can understand and improve at, rather than something they simply have to memorise. My academic background in engineering has given me a strong foundation in mathematics and analytical problem-solving, and I look forward to helping students strengthen their fundamentals, prepare for assessments and reach their own academic goals.
