What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For all 6 years of high school I went to a school in regional Victoria, where I boarded full time. In the later years of my time there, as school became more serious, I often found myself tutoring my peers, as I was the highest academic achiever in the boys boarding house. Watching them solve problems they couldn't solve before, and watching their eyes light up as they realised they finally understood the content genuinely made my day, every time. I loved being able to use my abilities to help others in a meaningful way through tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I boarded for all 6 years of high school, meaning I was constantly around people of varying ages (12-19). I gained the ability to form bonds with people of all ages, without it being awkward for either party. I found this was transferable to a tutoring setting, where I was able to discuss topics at varying levels of understanding to better teach the content. While not academic, I have coached many sessions of junior cricket, where I seek to give meaningful feedback that the kids can comprehend, and understand the intention behind them, rather than seemingly meaningless drills.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
From my experience both being a tutor, and being tutored, the most valuable trait a tutor can bring is the ability to place the student in a judgement free environment. I find that many students are unwilling to admit where they are struggling, as they may find it embarrassing. Thus, it is part of the tutors job to make sure the student feels safe and comfortable discussing their weaknesses. Similarly, the tutor should know what level of understanding the student is going for. Some students may aim for an A, others may aim for a C. The tutor should keep these goals in mind to best help the student achieve their goals.

About William
My academic experience
I am a very science/math strong person, achieving study scores of above 40 in Mathematical Methods, Physics, and Chemistry when I graduated high school in 2025 with an ATAR of 95.20. I did this by not just studying hard, but taking pride in my work. If I did well, I was proud of myself, and if I didn't do as well, I took it as a chance to improve for the next test/assignment. This allowed me to have a successful year 12. Currently, I am studying Engineering at Monash University, the highest rated university for engineering in the state, where I will go on to specialise in Aerospace Engineering, with a minor in AI in Engineering.
My interests
For as long as I can remember I have been into everything to do with sports, in particular cricket, golf, and motor sport. I play cricket for my local club (EMTCC), where I open the batting for their 2nd XI. I also unofficially coach a few of the people who play in the U15/U17 teams, where I help develop their skills in a way that they find enjoyable. I got into golf at the start of my year 12 (2025), where I played 2-3 times a week. I found it was a great way for me to take my mind off of everything for a few hours, giving me a chance to focus on something other than school (And get my vitamin D!). I would have had a much more stressful year 12 if I didn't have a way to clear my head of all the school related worries in a healthy way, and I would recommend every year 12 student to have some activity they can do that does this.
