What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy most seeing the progress of my students and making learning accessible through analogies or gamifying knowledge. I find tutoring rewarding as well because it is mutually beneficial and helps to test the limits of my knowledge. My experience as a self-employed tutor on SuperProf also taught me the importance of forming a goal-centered approach to tutoring which helps in maintaining a student's focus and motivation.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths is my interest in building rapport with my students as a foundation for a functional and effective tutoring dynamic. I also find my and fellow classmates' previous experiences help me avoid certain learning barriers for my students. Other personal strengths that I find transfer into tutoring include my empathy for helping others reach their academic goals and helping demonstrate how learnings in one topic can be transferrable to other topics. This shows how most tutoring can teach foundational methods and techniques that students can utilise personally and implement on their own.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

To ensure that the tutor is personally motivated to learn rather than being told or instructed to learn. This improves self-efficacy and improves the student's commitment to completing homework. Part of tutoring is building a relationship that makes the student comfortable to ask questions about content and engage with the content.

About Adam

Maths Tutor

My academic experience as a 90+ ATAR student of the International Baccalaureate enabled me high level understanding of Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry and History. I now translate the learnings and experience I had as a tutor to aid students across different stages of learning be it year 2 or 12. I am a personable, engaging, and driven Tutor that looks to use techniques and experience to make lessons engaging, informative and transformative.

Post-graduate Medicine pathway student

I am a student enrolled in Flinders University, undertaking a Bachelor of Health Sciences with the intention of transferring into Medicine. This pathway has supported my extended and ongoing learning in STEM topics in a medical context and has given me this extended scope of knowledge when it comes to tutoring.

My Commitments

Aside from the academic world of studies, I enjoy building productivity apps for online audiences, running a languages acquisition club (FURIOSA) at Flinders and helping to operate a Landscaping Business assisting clients all around the Adelaide Hills. These commitments help to keep me physically, culturally and creatively active in the community and holistically develop my character and skills.
