What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One thing I love about tutoring and learning myself is the so called "ah-ha moment" when something is put a certain way and it just clicks for that person; you can see a wave of confidence come over that person which is very rewarding. In addition I believe tutoring is the perfect way for me to use my skills in maths and science to help others in the community. As someone who is new to Sydney I am constantly looking for ways to create connections with the community and I believe tutoring is a great opportunity that will be mutually beneficial.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my greatest strength as a maths and science tutor is the fact that I was myself a high school student not too long ago and still am a student now. This means that I can deliver the material to students in a way that is relatable to them as a young person. In addition I have just completed a degree in engineering and am working towards another in which maths and science are used to solve real world problems, therefor I have interesting insights and information into why it can be useful to learn maths and science.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing for a tutor to do is understand exactly what that particular student does and does not understand. Many times I remember going to professors consultation hours in there office and asking them a question to which they gave me a long explanation which didn't even address my question leaving me more confused than before. A tutor should make the effort to understand what is giving the student troubles, and I believe as a student myself I have an advantage in being able to see things through the students eyes in order to help in a way that will make a difference.
