What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
Connecting with new people and creating networks. It's nice to talk with parents and students outside of tutoring hours, making small talk, ensuring their grades are still going strong or giving out the latest study tips.
My Strengths as Tutor
Breaking down negative stereotypes about mathematics and learning, allowing students to better enjoy education. My greatest strength is getting through a student's fears or attitudes, showing them that their grades are either not their fault or can be changed with a bit of willpower and understanding. Only when a student's mind is open can they change and become better than they were before.
Most important things I can do for a student
Be a mentor as well, mathematical skills might not be the only thing a child needs. Often a student doesn't perform poorly in school due to disinterest or an inability to understand the work, but because of various troubles in their lives. Pre-teens and teenagers are often reluctant to share their troubles with their parents but jump at the opportunity to confide in a tutor-mentor.
