What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
I enjoy seeing the progression of a student's journey and improvement over weeks working with them. Helping them build off previous weeks allows them to think beyond just textbook answers so that they have a more global and comprehensive approach to learning.
My Strengths as Tutor
I am good at giving examples of real-life situations to explain examples in questions to give students a more relatable and realistic situation they can visualise and understand. I am also good at identifying and working on gaps in previous knowledge as (I will often provide supplementary exercises for particular problematic areas that I identify with students) to make sure that all of the basic skills come almost naturally in order to learn new things which are applications of those basic skills.
Most important things I can do for a student
Providing as much detail in feedback and marking somewhat harsher than what is needed so that students are benefiting from as much feedback so that they can improve. With this feedback, providing very specific examples of how to improve instead of saying generalised criticisms.
Create links with stuff that's already been learnt so that students are able to have a better understanding of things and they don't think they are learning topic by topic of segregated information.
