What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
Helping others in any way brings me a high level of satisfaction and combining this with subjects that I have enjoyed studying is definitely the cherry on top. I enjoy assisting the needs of others by tailoring and planning study to their personal needs to ensure their learning goals are met in the long or short term.
My Strengths as Tutor
As a tutor I will ensure that I am able to communicate effectively with the student to ensure that they have understood what is being explained. In addition, a key part of me as an individual is that I am very easy going, hence this will create a comfortable environment and prevent students from being hesitant to ask any questions. Further, my organisation skills and attention to detail will ensure that all assigned tasks are completed in a timely fashion. Having experienced the stress associated with Year 12, I will also suggest tips and ways to manage stress and stay up to date with work.
Most important things I can do for a student
I believe that a tutor must not add additional pressure to a student as I am well aware of the stress and anxiety VCE and other year level courses can bring. Therefore, it is vital that a tutor understands this and ensures that not only is the student exceeding academically but also advising them about strategies to consistently keep on working and ways to manage stress levels would be ideal.
In addition, a tutor should encourage students at times when they are down and ensure that tutoring is interactive, engaging and fun whilst also useful.
