The most important thing I think a tutor can do for a student is to help teach them in a safe, non-judgemental and trust worthy environment. If the student feels comfortable in the environment, they are more willing to open their minds and be more willing to learn whereas if they felt uncomfortable they would be more closed off and fearful.
