What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I've always been someone who's willing to help a hand because I knew that if I were in their position, struggling to grasp a concept or stuck on a question, I would love if someone could help me. It's always rewarding to hear back from a student ace their recent maths test, or confidently explain concepts they struggled to understand previously.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am patient and always find multiple ways to tackle a problem. Instead of making sure my student just knows the answer, I want to be able to help them grasp the foundations of a concept and be able to apply that in circumstances where their knowledge needs to be recalled. I prefer to focus on the science of learning, and adapt my teaching ability to suit each child's needs.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
To listen. Being able to understand the holes in a student's learning, as well as understand what methods would be most effective in helping them gain a new understanding is how both I as a tutor and my student can succeed in what we aim to achieve. There is also effective comprehension: a tutor should be clear, concise, and able to tailor their teaching style to suit each student's needs as a means to ensure they have the best opportunity to understand a topic.
