I believe that tutors encourage students to study and learn new content, without this motivation many students cannot reach their maximum potential. Tutors have to adapt to that particular students needs and follow at the students pace instead of just pushing work forward, this is what separates a teacher and a tutor and I believe that to be a particularly important trait.
