What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I really enjoy the satisfaction I feel upon viewing my students succeed, seeing tangible improvement and feeling a sense of impact that is hard to find in other professions. I feel as though the best way to enjoy your profession is to feel as though you are making a difference and to know how appreciated you are, and I believe tutoring is very rewarding in that sense.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths would be to always validate the student's questions, never make them feel incompetent or as though they can't do something. I would always provide reasoning for why we are doing certain things, so as to give them some insight into their own learning. I'd give them agency to solve problems on their own, rather than simply do the question for them and provide them with a meaningless and baseless answer. I'd feel approachable to the student to make sure that they don't feel too alienated to ask questions.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the student take an active role in their learning. Rather than simply dictate the steps to take, a tutor needs to ensure the student participates in each aspect of their learning, whether it be through examples or solving problems. A tutor also needs to be well informed on the content a student is learning, in order to maintain credibility but also support the student to the best of their ability. A tutor also needs to provide ample means of progress tracking, to ensure the student retains the information learnt, rather than stagnating
