What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing a student's ability to solve a problem improve as a result of my tutoring. I find it very gratifying knowing I have helped increase their ability or enthusiasm in a subject, especially if they get a good mark in a test which they credit to my tutoring.
I also enjoy the way tutoring reinforces my own knowledge of a subject, as it is said the best way to learn something is by teaching it.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to break problems students might be having into small pieces they can understand, and then helping them use those pieces to solve the original problem.
I also think that identifying problems students are having is one of my strengths as a tutor, and using this to determine how best to help a student solve a problem.
I also think I have developed good time management skills which can be taught to students to ensure they spend appropriate amounts of time on questions, and how to maximise the marks a student can get in a test.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider student engagement in a topic is one of the most important things a tutor can encourage in a student, and as someone beginning a Masters in physics I have plenty of enthusiasm myself for learning maths and science. I think that my enthusiasm will encourage students to to develop an enthusiasm of their own for what they are learning, as the only way a student can remember difficult ideas is by wanting to.
I also think personal experience with a subject is important for a tutor to share with a student, to give students encouragement and put what they are learning into context.
