What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love encouraging students in the subjects and interests they are passionate about and helping them to further understand and achieve their full potential in it. I aspire to help students develop their passion, as I personally understand a passion for academic subjects and the love for learning, which I wish to spread through my teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my passion and enthusiasm for the subjects I love (Mathematics, English, and Physics) is one of my strengths as a tutor. Throughout my schooling, I have learnt that passion is infectious, and a passionate teacher always makes their subject more appealing to learn. I have always loved to see the enthusiasm my teachers have shown for their subjects, and hope that I can also demonstrate my love for Mathematics, English, and Physics through my tutoring to influence the students' interest in them, too.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Tutors should be able to understand that all students are on different academic levels and learn at different paces, with different styles, and hence empathise with where each individual student is at in the subject and provide empathy and support for them. To do this, tutors must build a safe and comfortable learning environment where the student can feel free to express any thoughts or questions, and ensure continuous encouragement for the student in their academic journey. Overall: patience, understanding, and empathy are the most important things a tutor can show a student.

Although Eve was feeling a little stressed about the test at the beginning of the session, she was feeling a lot more confident about it by the end. We went through the chapter review for the topic, where Eve showed her excellent understanding in the key concepts (axes intercepts, gradients, midpoints, and distance between two points) covered in the topic, which she only needed a little reminding occasionally of.
Eve is doing really well in what is expected of her year level in this current topic. For extension, she could revise on finding an unknown value in a point when given a gradient (e.g. known gradient 2 and points (2,3) and (1,n), where she is to find n), midpoint, or distance between the two points, as that were the questions she was the most unsure about in the chapter review.

Olivia felt relatively confident about her test tomorrow. We went through most of the key concepts covered, in which she demonstrated her good understanding of the axes intercepts and gradient of a linear equation.
Olivia can continue working on her algebra so she can effectively rearrange equations to find the unknown, which will be useful for the current and all future topics in maths.

Rewriting her practical report has really solidified her understanding of the concept of beta radiation and the structure of the practical report. We were able to efficiently (re)complete the interpretation and evaluation of the data while further developing her use of scientific language in practical reports.
Since we only rewrote the practical report from last week and didn't cover anything new, there isn't anything specific in which Olivia can improve here.

Science  Throughout the lesson, we went through scientific interpretation and explanation of data using more advanced scientific terms. Eve understood the concepts (inverse square relationships, typed of errors) and language used well, and was able to incorporate them into her practical report. Maths  Eve has continued to show impressive improvement of her algebra, and has remembered the steps in finding the x and y intercepts. We were able to complete most of the quiz, and overall had a very productive lesson.
Eve should continue practicing finding an unknown value(s) of a linear function in the form of y = mx + c when knowing two points, as this includes everything she has learnt in this topic so far.
