What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love encouraging students in the subjects and interests they are passionate about and helping them to further understand and achieve their full potential in it. I aspire to help students develop their passion, as I personally understand a passion for academic subjects and the love for learning, which I wish to spread through my teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my passion and enthusiasm for the subjects I love (Mathematics, English, and Physics) is one of my strengths as a tutor. Throughout my schooling, I have learnt that passion is infectious, and a passionate teacher always makes their subject more appealing to learn. I have always loved to see the enthusiasm my teachers have shown for their subjects, and hope that I can also demonstrate my love for Mathematics, English, and Physics through my tutoring to influence the students' interest in them, too.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Tutors should be able to understand that all students are on different academic levels and learn at different paces, with different styles, and hence empathise with where each individual student is at in the subject and provide empathy and support for them. To do this, tutors must build a safe and comfortable learning environment where the student can feel free to express any thoughts or questions, and ensure continuous encouragement for the student in their academic journey. Overall: patience, understanding, and empathy are the most important things a tutor can show a student.

Overall, Olivia has a good understanding of how to simplify ratios, and just needed help finding the largest common factor. She also understood and effectively applied the method of splitting a large number into a given ratio.
Olivia should practice her mental arithmetic, especially dividing by 10s and similar problems (e.g. dividing 700 by 7, resulting in 100).

Eve has learnt the overall topic very well, and completed the tree diagram topic and test revision material mostly independently. She even understood the harder questions which required a bit more statistics calculations (which is beyond the required Year 9 level of understanding) after I explained them to her.
As this session was mainly focussed on test revision, there is nothing specific that Eve should improve on.

Eve learned the common notation used in probability very quickly, despite struggling a bit with them at the beginning of the lesson. She also has a great grasp on using arrays to solve probability problems.
Eve is progressing well in her current topic, but could practise more problem solving questions as she sometimes struggles a bit to understand the questions.
