What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Getting to befriend and help people.
As a tourer, I'd be responsible for their(student's) learning so if I can't teach a concept (because everybody learns differently) or help a student with their grades, then I'm wasting their resources and their parent's resources, and I don't like that idea.
So, being able to help a student cope with the workload stress and help them get through it bit by bit is my favourite because it'll mean I'd actually be able to help them (and in a way their teachers probably couldn't) and I'd get to make a friend along the way.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I'm sociable and expressive to help engage those I'm teaching.
I'm reasonably good at understanding concepts/processes and being able to quickly learn or know content is important so that more time can be used to guide students through their work.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As a tutor is paid to improve a student's grades and so that's the underlying aim.
But what a tutor should really do is teach a student how to learn better and improve.
That means reminding them to proofread, read the criteria sheet before and after researching, and set up study plans that work with them (if that's palm cards, end of the week reviewing, or for me setting aside a few hours to read textbooks).
These are the most important things to cover with students, but most of the time it will be clarifying what is being asked and helping the student under concepts.
