What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I would personally enjoy the connection that I would build with the student, getting to know them and forming a safe, healthy relationship that is free of judgment or pressure. I'd enjoy watching them transition from the 'I don't know about this' stage to the lightbulb moment of 'Oh, I get it now!' because it will let me know that they really are benefitting from the tutoring experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths are that I would truly and deeply care about the student and their progress. School should be an enjoyable experience for everybody and unfortunately having difficulties with academic work can really put a damper on school life. I also have insight into and some experience with helping and supporting students (academically, socially and emotionally) through my EA qualifications. Here we learned a lot about learning difficulties and strategies to assist students with numeracy and literacy tasks. I have also worked as an educator at before/after school care programs across Perth for the last 2 years so I am very familiar with working with primary school-aged children.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider that the most important thing I could do for the student is to create a safe environment for them. That means ensuring that I don't do or say anything that will make them feel they are being judged, as this may hinder their willingness to engage comfortably. Creating a comfortable space where the student feels safe in making mistakes and doesn't fear when they don't understand something, seems absolutely vital to me.
