What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy when my students finally overcome an obstacle they previously could not. In my experience of tutoring for mathematics, the students typically seemed to not enjoy doing maths or seemed like they thought that no matter how hard they tried, they could never "be good at maths". However, after explaining concepts they struggled with in using different strategies, usually I was able to get them to understand the concepts they were struggling with.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength as a tutor would be my ability to understand my own thinking process, and the thought process of the student. Through this, I can clearly see where a student is struggling, and instead of introducing them to a complete new way of approaching a concept, I can instead try to teach them a way of working through the concept in a way that aligns with their natural thinking process. The desired result of this approach is that learning these processes can feel more natural to the student, rather than them trying to just memorising steps.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make sure they understand why they are learning what they are learning. Motivation is the key to successful students, so making sure a student is motivated should be a tutors number one priority.
