What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
As someone who was intimidated asking for help from my teachers, I enjoy being the figure in my student's lives who they feel comfortable approaching with questions. Seeing the development of students as they learn new content and gain confidence in themselves is probably the most rewarding part of being a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My academic abilities are an obvious strength as a tutor but I believe my ability to be understanding, patient and compassionate towards my students are my biggest advantages. I have a lot of experience with mental health and I believe that contributes to my skills as a tutor. Finally, my flexibility and adaptation to a student's unique learning requirements makes me a good option for a student's tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is create an environment that allows for them learn how to effectively study. Encouraging students to tackle challenges in their studies themselves through teaching useful study skills is just as important as being a resource for learning the content. I believe accommodating for the student's specific needs and learning style, treating each student as an individual, and working alongside the school's content to tailor the sessions to the student is vital.

I think we got along pretty well, we have a good understanding of what we expect of each other etc. She could complete most of the quiz without any difficulties and was comfortable asking me questions when they arose.
Her understanding of fractions needs a little work, there was confusion on how to judge the accurate amount of shading of a shape. Implementing the learning strategies (backtracking, pen to paper etc.) isn't really happening yet. I think some general work on algebraic questions and knowing how and when to use BIDMAS will also help.
Got to know each other, I believe we got along. She could answer most questions on the quiz without much difficulty.

Implementing the learning strategy 'Talking Out Loud'. I assume as she becomes more comfortable around me this will be easier to do. Her organisation of her subject materials needs some improvement. It would be very beneficial to have all her content accessible.
