What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I struggled with a lot of mental health issues through my education, so I really enjoy helping people to have better opportunities than I did. Especially those struggling with social anxiety issues that traditionally wouldn't ask for help if they need it.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a good record of teaching people flagged as challenging students, this includes behavioural difficulties and disabilities. I think these issues tend to come down to patience and maintaining a positive environment while you work through the issues. I am also a part of the LGBTQI+ community, I believe that this makes for a great opportunity for students that might feel more comfortable in a visibly accepting and safe environment during their tutoring.
I also founded a business in mid-2021 to supply better online learning to science teaching labs at universities, so I have some great and unique learning materials. I have a Discord page set up so that students of mine can easily get in touch or ask questions outside of tutorial times.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Listen to them. Education is a big system where getting your voice heard feels impossible, a tutor is the best thing the students have if they need to talk about it - even if that's just you agreeing that the resources they were given weren't enough and that it's understandable that they're stuck.
