What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I started out in teaching by privately tutoring high school students, mainly in their HSC year. Many of them were aspiring to advanced degrees in fields such as medicine, and I taught them in extension 2 mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. What a rewarding experience it has been! I love learning new things and I also enjoy sharing this process with others, especially young students who are so full of energy and potential.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
With my extensive teaching experience at various stages in educational development, and having had a professional career in healthcare and academic research, I feel that not only do I have the academic aptitude to teach young students, but that I have something special - a bigger picture of how early education and development can open doors later in life. Inspiration and seeing the big picture is the driving force for further study, and I am fully capable in providing this.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The best thing that a tutor can do for a student is not to regurgitate information - that can be found by reading a book, or browsing the internet; but to inspire. I believe that a perspective can be most powerfully shared by someone who has seen and understood, who can empathize with the struggles that are necessary to get to seeing the solution (be it from understanding the concepts behind integral calculus to the central dogma of gene transcription and translation).
