Work to build up the student's confidence. This can be done by teaching them not just how to study for a test, but how to understand the test's content. It is crucial that a student's problem solving and critical thinking skills be developed, as this enables them to approach new or harder concepts with the assurance that they have the skills to overcome these new challenges. Such confidence naturally leads to a greater enjoyment of the subject and learning in general, which is also incredibly beneficial.
