What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I am passionate about improving access and promoting inclusivity in education. As an international student, I enjoy learning about people from different cultures and backgrounds. Tutoring combines these interests with balance.
I have also observed over the years that I myself learn a lot about the subject, while planning lessons for students, which helps me understand what I am currently studying to a higher degree.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength is my patience and perseverance. It is extremely important to motivate students, even if they struggle with a concept repeatedly. Getting frustrated might produce anxiety for the student, which I hope to avoid. I also provide extremely interactive lessons which allows students to be actively involved in their own learning process. A key distinction between me and some other tutors is my focus on explaining why a certain concept in mathematics exists or works, rather than on just an algorithm to solve problems, providing them the knowledge of when it is useful to apply a concept.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As a mathematics tutor, the main aim is to remove any negative preconceived notions from students minds and spark interest in creative and involved ways. Mathematics is often associated with algorithms and arithmetic which is incorrect, students should be informed of its various applications. Learning dislike discovering what already exists, so as tutors our objective should be to pave comfortable journeys for this discovery.
