What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The part I enjoy most about tutoring is the sense of achievement I gain as I see my student improve and grow as a result of my teaching. Although sometimes teaching the same content become repetitive, whenever I see that my students are getting better at a weak area I feel renewed with motivation and energy.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think that my primary strength as a tutor is that I am very patient, which allows me to be able to slowly comb through areas of improvement with my students, without feeling annoyed or angry. Apart from this, I think that my other core strength as a tutor is that I have previous experience teaching, unlike most other high school graduates. I believe that this would allow me to magnify my familiarity with the NSW syllabus, hence creating a more effective and pleasant learning experience for the student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
For me, the most important thing that a tutor may do for a student is to help them establish a positive growth mindset towards learning. By knowing and openly embracing inevitable setbacks as a necessary step for further growth, a student would be more motivated to study. I think that it would also help them greatly in maintaining the motivation and momentum needed up to the HSC.
I also consider instilling a sense of self-confidence on weaker subject areas to be really important. Otherwise, I find it common for students to limit their own performance by some form of self-demoralisation.
