What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I honestly just know that being a kid is harder than it seems and trying to juggle homework and a tedious academic workload with other extracurricular activities is where tutoring with concise and effective teaching methods is useful. Finding ways to effectively understand content myself and explain it in a way that is understandable is both challenging but incredibly satisfying when successful.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think I'm quite a patient person. I know even the best methods of teaching hard content can sometimes still be difficult to understand and, empathising with when I was in school, having a guide who is understanding, determined and willing to wait to help you learn was so amazing to have. I also have a very curious ethic to my own personal learning where I refuse to just 'rote memorise' and explore the reasons as to why things are the way they are, whether it's scientific or literary. This mentality has been very useful for me throughout medical school and I aim to utilise this as a tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student π
It sounds clichΓ© but it's helping unlock student potential. Many times a student is struggling is usually due to elements within the school or home environment that is hindering their progress, not their intrinsic intelligence. Tutoring can provide the means for a much more personal interaction where obstructions to learning can be quickly identified and easily managed. This can be a transformative process for both me as a tutor and student and can help guide both into our academic journeys thereafter.
