What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
The look on the students face when they not only get the correct answer but they genuinely understand the principle behind it and why it works out to be that (I.e. an equation).
I also love it when the child is personally engaged into the session and what they are learning because it is something THEY want to improve on and they arenβt just forced to do it by their parents.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Through my experiences as a junior basketball coach (ages 13-15) I have developed a great deal of patience and understanding for younger students. I have also been able to learn from these students what the most effective way of communicating is and how different students react to different instructions or guidance, as a result, I would say my greatest strength is being able to communicate a complex issue into laymanβs term so it is easily understood and digested by the student.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I think it is most important to be patient with the students and to ensure they properly understand the concepts being taught before moving onto the next topic.
You must also be understanding and empathic with the students to show you can appreciate where they are coming from or why they are thinking a certain way whether it is in the way they write their English essays or their thought process in a math equation.
Finally, you must be an effective communicator as it is the tutors job to explain a complex or poorly understood concept to a student in the most effective way possible.
