What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing people in the moment when they understand a concept, passage, or formula. It is the enjoyment which comes from working together with the student to figure something, prompting hints, even sometimes learning something new myself, which excites me.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths are that as a student I used to struggle with basic concepts. And it wasn't after I reached into VCE where I realized that you shouldn't try learn something because it's preached as the "optimal" way. But rather, finding methods which are easier to remember, or suits you better- I think that's what's most important. And as a tutor, I'd enforce this in my classes and be sure that if my student doesn't understand, I shouldn't persist and frustrate the student, but rather see what works better for them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Make them feel comfortable and wanting to do work. Ever since growing up, I personally always found praise to work far better than punishment. I believe acknowledging students for their efforts and their achievement not only gives the student confidence, but it makes the student confident in the tutor- knowing they're in the right direction.
