- Getting to know a student's personality, goals and reasons for taking the subjects, and learning what their internal motivators might be to help them achieve their own goals - Watching a student's confidence in themselves increase - Helping students understand new concepts or develop study skills

- Patience - Building rapport with students who want to get better at a subject but aren't sure how to get there - Breaking down concepts into smaller parts until a student understands better - Previous achievement in high school Mathematics up to year 12 ext 2, Advanced English and the sciences
