The most important thing a teacher in general can do for a student is to cultivate a positive mindset that they have the potential to do anything. It is a way of teaching them to believe in themselves. I believe teaching is more than just conveying information. A teacher has the power to mold a child's life. Hence as a teacher, it is crucial to…

In my opinion the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure that the student truly understand the various concepts taught. That is because my belief is that by understanding the concept rather than memorising, you are less likely to forget how to do the question in the exam and/or get a mind blank As a tutor, I think my strengths would be…

Inside WillmotTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Lily worked on solving simultaneous equations using both elimination and substitution, and also reviewed BODMAS rules alongside fraction operations.

For Year 10, Ethan focused on graphing and interpreting non-linear relationships and tackled word problems involving quadratic functions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Priya practiced critical path analysis by drawing activity charts and calculating EST, LST, float time, and the overall critical path for project management scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, when working with fractions and basic operations, sometimes forgot steps and overcomplicated simple tasks—one tutor noted, "he got caught up in advanced methods and lost track of fundamentals."

In a recent senior exam, a Year 11 student struggled to focus and made several careless mistakes, impacting his confidence.

For Year 10 algebra revision, skipping written working hid small errors until late in the process.

In English (Year 7), one student needed repeated guidance to turn ideas into paragraphs, which slowed drafting. These moments left them frustrated or rushing as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Willmot noticed a Year 11 student recently stopped relying on graphing software for every maths problem and now finishes classwork independently—he even completed all tasks on time, which was a big shift from earlier sessions.

In another session, a high school student who'd previously rushed through revision took extra care to review answers before exams, showing new self-discipline.

Meanwhile, a primary student who used to hesitate with trigonometry began working through practice problems confidently after finally grasping the basics.

Last week, one student wrapped up an assessment task early and submitted it without corrections.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Willmot Public School.
