A tutor should be able to help clear each and every notion that the student has about a certain topic. They should not get tired of explaining concepts on repeat. A good tutor should always be consistent and take note of what their student does. They should regularly follow up on lesson plans and make sure that the student is not burdened by any…

Science Tutor Spring Farm, NSW
As a tutor, the most important things I can do for a student are to build their confidence, foster a deep understanding of the material, and create a supportive, engaging learning environment. I focus on helping students grasp key concepts by breaking them down into manageable parts, using various teaching methods to suit their learning style. I…

Give my best to help the students with their studies, while enjoying the work. Also, I motivate the students towards studies, and show them the benefits gained from education. I explain the things in a more elaborative and attractive manner, so that even the under performing students will also be able to understand. I do not hesitate to explain…

Have the student recognise that there is more to the subject than just what they see at school. To understand their unique ways of learning and use that to help them flourish. My main strength has always been communication and time management. In my time as a tutor I have also found patience as a strength. My ability to build strong rapport…

- Being consistent with their students, setting a schedule to meet with them and follow up on prescribed work - the ability to adapt to the skill level of the student e.g. ramping up the difficulty of questions sooner if a student shows great confidence and performance in a certain field/concept - Patient, don't mind elaborating on concepts…

Science Tutor Blair Athol, NSW
I believe tutors have the biggest impact on how a student approaches a subject. Speaking from personal experience, I don't think I would've liked studying the subjects I had in year 10, 11 and 12 if I hadn't had good teachers who knew how to make the subjects interesting to learn. A tutor is capable of making studying feel less burdensome and I…

Being patient in allowing students to fully grasp a topic or idea before proceeding. Often students have topics and subjects that have been neglected by the schooling system, and sometimes it is necessary to move backward before we go forward. I have been a student myself for 13 years and have an acute understanding of what assists myself and…

Local Reviews

My Son Tomi is enjoying tutoring lessons with Mehrab & is keen to do homework tasks she sets for him as he has an understanding of what he is doing. Mehrab is very professional & her teaching methods are fantastic. It's early days however Tomi is enjoying attending maths classes at school & I can see his confidence building up as he used to get very anxious when he knew he had a maths class, now he has an interest in Maths & I am very grateful to the great tutoring service your company provides. I look forward to many more lessons & will definately recommended your tutoring services to friends of mine. Thank you so much.

Inside AirdsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Oliver focused on algebraic equations, particularly addressing errors with negative signs and reviewing exam questions.

For Year 8, Ayesha worked through algebraic simplification and expansion in preparation for an upcoming test, using past paper problems to target weak areas.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Liam practised long division and spelling, breaking down multi-step calculations and reinforcing written language skills within each session.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student in algebra often relied on mental calculations instead of writing steps, which led to repeated errors—she needs to show working out during questions to reduce silly mistakes, one tutor noted.

In Year 10, forgetting to check for negative signs in equations meant marks were lost on test questions involving subtraction.

For a Year 4 learner, missing homework assignments became a pattern and slowed their grasp of long division concepts.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student hesitated to attempt challenging times tables out of order, preferring only familiar patterns—progress with new multiplication facts then stalled each week.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Airds noticed a big shift with Oliver, a high school student, who now independently identifies and corrects his own mistakes after struggling on past exams; he recently scored much higher than last year and can confidently tackle equation problems without pausing.

Another high schooler, Misheel, surprised her tutor by flagging tricky homework questions instead of skipping them—she's also begun answering most tasks correctly and finishing all assigned work.

Meanwhile, one younger student who often lost their place while reading has started following the lines smoothly and managed to read an entire chapter aloud with barely any missed words or sentences.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbelltown City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Airds High School.
