Chemistry is just one of those subjects, it either clicks or it doesn't. Many students find maths and physics easy, but when it comes to chemistry they just feel lost.
And it's understandable. It can be challenging to connect the concepts to real-life, see how it all relates to their day-to-day. When they're struggling, students tend to give up easily and at some point, they stop trying altogether.
If your child doesn't catch on right away, or maybe they consider chemistry a complete waste of time, it can be hard to convince them otherwise. What we've found is that students react better when it comes from someone who they can relate to.
They react to mentors, someone closer to their age, who shares the same experience. That's why tutors are in a unique position to help a student grow.
That's why great tutoring can make such a big difference.
Want to find out how? We can allocate a local Ballarat chemistry tutor within a day or two. They reach out to you and set up a first lesson whenever you and your child can make it.
If you like the tutor's approach you keep working with them. If you are not 100% satisfied - we consider it a trial lesson and find a better match. It's that simple!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Isabella is gradually beginning to become familiar with concepts such as talking aloud and pen to paper, but still requires some focus on back checking and transferring skills between questions. Currently I am encouraging Isabella to pick up on errors without being told or given a hint. This will hopefully allow Isabella to engage in more independent learning in and outside of class.
India has a good understanding of the mathematics topics taught in class and seems to enjoy working through the solutions, particularly when she has mastered a technique India puts in a good effort during the tutorial session and is always ready to undertake additional questions It would be better if INdia advised me of her topics for revision or concern so that I could prepare some questions and solutions akin to the approach used in Year 9 mathematics.
I need to remind David to show better correction skills, with him not scribbling out incorrect answers, and instead striking a single line through. With percentages we could have gone over more questions in the form of "Ted pays $60 after receiving a discount of 20%. What is the normal price?", as David found these the most challenging.
Thanks for organising Matt for tutoring. Tom had a great first session with him and said he 'got heaps' out of the experience.
Maryanne was fantastic, the confidence I saw in my daughter this morning was amazing and that was only with one session. Thank you for sending Maryanne our way.
Matt was great with Gemma on Monday evening. We have booked Matt again for next Monday. Thankyou for all of your help.
