I am confident, patient and kind. I enjoy working with kids and I like learning and also knowing I've helped someone else learn something new. I feel I can pass on my motivation to students, as well as the importance of having a positive mindset- especially as you approach senior years in high school. I'm encouraging and I feel that I have the…

I do think it's very important a student never feels judged or stressed from the pressure of learning, as that can taint their experience for a long time before they are comfortable again to engage actively. It's crucial tutors are understanding of how a student is feeling and supports them as much as possible in moments of confusion and…

By helping them get a good grip of the foundation of the subject or topic. This is why I enjoy tutoring as well, as it lets me revise. I believe that with a good foundation the student will be more capable of catching on quickly to more harder topics and won't find it frustrating even if they initially struggle with it. Another important quality…

Inside Belgrave HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Daniel focused on building speed and confidence with times tables and practiced using coordinates, directions, and map scales.

Year 10 student Vien developed arguments for a practice essay and worked on proofreading homework in preparation for an upcoming SAC.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Isaac explored scene analysis from *The Princess Bride* in English and strengthened his skills interpreting political cartoons for argument analysis.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 English, a student hesitated to generate unique examples for essays, tending to latch onto the first idea rather than exploring a wider range—"responding to each question in an original and critical way" was a challenge noted by the tutor.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student often left writing assignments unfinished or only partially developed, especially conclusions.

In maths (Year 8), one student skipped regular practice at home and struggled to recall methods during lessons; this meant lesson time was spent re-learning instead of moving forward.

For Year 5, untidy handwriting made it hard for teachers to follow his reasoning during comprehension tasks.

Recent Achievements

A Belgrave Heights tutor noticed one high school student started proofreading their own essays for the first time, picking up on unclear paragraphs after previously submitting drafts without checking.

Another secondary student who used to hesitate with complex maths questions now works through new algebra problems independently by the end of each session, only asking for help when truly stuck.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once rushed through spelling tasks is now taking extra time to reread and correct errors, finishing her weekly exercises with noticeably fewer mistakes than before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Belgrave Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Belgrave South Primary School.
