In my view, It's not just about covering the day's lesson; it's about building their confidence, and offering unwavering support. It's about creating a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Furthermore, setting achievable goals and nurturing a passion for learning are also…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to continuously motivate and encourage the student, in order to help the improve the student's confidence. I think one of my strengths as a tutor is that I genuinely like Maths, therefore, I find it easy to explain Maths concepts to students in a way that they will easily…

Being able to communicate to a student how to properly tackle any topics they appear to be having trouble understanding on their own while at the same time establishing in them self-confidence to ensure they'll be able to believe in their own intuition when the time comes for them to deal with unfamiliar concepts and problems they'll find…

Create a comfortable, secure environment in their sessions by praising students for effort and engagement rather than correctness. Tutor's should not just tell students whether they are correct or incorrect, but explain why. They must analyse a students working towards the solution to determine exactly where they are lacking in understanding and…

I believe that tutoring largely involves guiding a student's approach to learning a topic. Hence, implementing a range of well-researched learning techniques is a key aspect of ensuring students not only approach topics comfortably, but also gain a thorough understanding that sticks with them. As someone who has meticulously researched a range of…

To help the student improve and come to a better grasp with something they were previously not understanding. Allowing the student to refine their skills and successfully enhance their mathematical prowess. I am extremely patient and understanding when a student is struggling to understand something. I also believe that I am very knowledgeable…

Inspire them. Anyone can regurgitate textbook material in a different way. But only few can truly educate and inspire their students to become the very best version of themselves. Some of the strengths that I believe are quite necessary for a tutor other than leadership are resilience, and the ability to properly analyse a students learning…

Local Reviews

This was very easy to set up for my child. I spoke on the phone will a very friendly and helpful consultant who was able to make a plan based on my childs needs. Our tutor is friendly and well suited to my child. My childs confidence has been restored and we have seen improvements in understanding and ability in just one month. I would highly recommend this service.

Inside BethaniaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Lucas worked on arithmetic with negative numbers and explored square roots, factors, and multiples through targeted practice.

For Year 8, Lachlan revised factorization and index laws, then applied substitution in algebraic expressions using class worksheets.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Xavier focused on probability revision for an upcoming exam and reinforced understanding of linear equations by solving practice problems from his recent assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student repeatedly avoided writing out full algebraic steps, as noted: "he's very good at solving questions but we're working on making sure he shows all the steps." This led to hidden errors and made reviewing mistakes harder.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner didn't complete assigned homework or start a major maths assignment, which delayed feedback and left key skills unpracticed.

In senior years, another student relied heavily on looking back at previous examples before trying new rounding tasks—slowing independent progress and deepening gaps in decimal understanding.

When fatigue hit mid-lesson, only half the planned material was covered.

Recent Achievements

A Bethania tutor noticed one Year 9 student, who previously rushed through algebra and made frequent errors, now carefully shows all working out and explains each step aloud—she even caught her own mistake without prompting this week.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student has started tackling statistics questions more independently; after initially hesitating to ask for help, he now readily voices his uncertainties before solving problems on his own.

In primary sessions, one Year 5 student who used to feel anxious about multiplication recently completed a times tables quiz accurately after practicing at home and asked the tutor for harder questions next time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Marsden Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bethania Lutheran Primary School.
