A tutor should create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are given time to think critically about key problems. This can only be achieved when a tutor is able to explain…

I feel tutors need to provide constructive feedback for the students, especially in an English essay for example. They need to give them specific help in areas they are struggling in by identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Tutors also need to help students stay on top of task, help them complete assignments in time, this means they need to…

tutor is meant to solve or make life easy of a student so do tutor must do.tutor must leen upon the techniques the student is comfort with rather than making it a headache for a student to learn or grasp it.so one must go with student methodology as prime motive is to make things crystal clear to the students. patience- in explaining things back…

Putting things in an easy way and guiding the students to think this way to solve the problem. This is very important, especially in maths and science subjects, the key for students to improve is by really understanding and the best way to check is to are they able to explain it back to you on another day, not to memorize by hard, maths also not…

Instead of focusing on traditional way of teaching, a teacher should be able to spark curiosity. Instead of telling them to write, teacher should tell them how writing makes you think critically. Additionally, teachers should understand that every student is unique and they might have different learning methods which suits them. Education system…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to not just help with homework and assignments, but build a solid understanding of key concepts and other basics (especially in maths and science) so that the student is equipped with the knowledge and confidence to tackle a wide range of problems on their own. The most important things a tutor can do for a student is creating lesson plans and methods based around that student. The tutor should also never make a student feel dumb or less capable, but instead should show the students that they have the same capabilities as their peers, it may just take other methods, and concepts that they are not getting…

If a student is not able to understand the concept, a tutor should change pedagogy. A tutor can take help of learning aid, activity based learning etc. I come to the mental level of the student according to the grade and individual differences. I try to develop basic concepts first and then proceed further. I can teach in both ways either one to…

In my opinion, tutors can help students in setting goals and achieve them from time to time. My strengths would basically include my communication skills and assertiveness with the students. In addition, I…

A tutor can explain the main concept, however, the related questions must be solved by the student itself as it promotes the concept of self-learning. I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is be encouraging towards a student; often students get tutoring in a subject they are struggling in and are already mentally finding it difficult so it is critical a tutor positively encourages them and reminds them of their improvement. It is also very important a tutor listens to the…

My daughter has constantly struggled with maths and has had 2 Ezymaths tutors. Both have been fantastic in helping to teach her the fundamentals and to build her self confidence in maths, which given how terrible I was with maths was impossible to do myself. I think I just made things worse. I would certainly recommend Ezymath tutors to anyone. Well worth the investment. Regards Trent

Inside Blair AtholTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student James revised for an upcoming **differential calculus test** by drawing sign diagrams for derivatives and finding equations of tangents to curves at given points.

A Year 12 student worked through the **chain rule and product rule in differentiation**, tackling a variety of exam-style questions to solidify understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Alex practised solving linear equations and graphing straight lines, focusing on interpreting **slope and y-intercept** from both algebraic forms and graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student struggled with test timing—"if he masters this at the start of year 12, he will be ahead," noted a tutor after observing rushed solutions in calculus.

In Year 10, one student's working was crowded and hard to track; errors became harder to spot without clearer spacing between steps.

A Year 8 learner found it difficult to recall earlier algebra lessons, needing frequent review of summary sheets.

Another senior needed help "remembering trigonometric identities" but hesitated to label diagrams, which slowed progress on non-calculator tasks and left them searching for connections mid-question.

Recent Achievements

One Blair Athol tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to show working now lays out each step clearly, which helps him spot and fix mistakes himself.

A Year 8 learner, after struggling with fractions, can now confidently find lowest common multiples and perform operations with different denominators without pausing for help.

Meanwhile, a primary student who used to guess when asked about prime numbers is now using continuous division accurately to identify primes and explain her reasoning out loud. Last session, she distinguished between three tricky numbers in a row using this method.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Enfield Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Paul Lutheran School.
