Teaching minds, touching hearts, transforming lives. Aside from the mastery of the subject being taught, developing a genuine bond between tutor and student, helping them apply or understand the gravity or importance of their study and why they should not take it for granted. In other words, helping them not only in the four corners of the…

I believe a great tutor goes beyond just increasing a student's marks- they are able to act as a mentor and oversee a student's education holistically. For example, I also guided one of my previous students through his year 12 year, helping him with the university admissions process and scholarship applications, where he is now studying…

Making a student as confident as possible is the upmost important aspect of tutoring in my mind. This is because, no matter how many hours are spent studying, if a student is not confident within themselves, in exam settings they will constantly doubt themselves and make avoidable mistakes. Therefore, building students confidence is the most…

Jasmine has only spent a few hours with my daughter but I've been very happy with the progress that she has made in that short amount of time.. Jasmine is a great teacher and is building a strong connection with my daughter. I feel very lucky to have found her and I'm looking forward to seeing not only Alice's maths improve but also her attitude to her studies. I can see that Jasmine's subtle influence is going to be very valuable as Alice goes into Year 11. Thank you Jasmine.

Inside BroadmeadowTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 Chloe worked on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages as well as tackling real-life money problems involving mark-ups and simple interest.

For Year 10 Erika, the lesson focused on calculating dividend yields in financial maths before moving into biology topics like autosomal and sex-linked inheritance, where she practiced drawing Punnett squares and interpreting pedigrees.

Meanwhile, Year 11 Jackson revised bearings and trigonometry problems—applying angle rules—and then practised questions on bivariate data analysis using calculators to find correlation coefficients.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly avoided writing out algebraic steps, especially when isolating variables—"He estimated the answer for x rather than showing the process," noted one tutor. This led to confusion between knowns and unknowns in equations.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student did not complete assigned homework on financial maths and bivariate data, partly due to unclear study routines and competing assessment deadlines. As a result, gaps in core content persisted and test preparation was less effective; missed practice also left him struggling with time management during multiple choice sections of trial exams, leading to rushed decisions under pressure.

Recent Achievements

A Broadmeadow tutor recently noticed Jackson, a senior high school student, making real strides in exam preparation—he now starts complex questions on his own and has reduced his reliance on formula sheets by recalling key methods from memory, something he struggled with earlier.

Erika, another high schooler, has become much more proactive about clarifying her understanding during sessions; she's begun using new techniques like underlining question verbs to avoid missing important details and can now answer previously challenging biology questions independently.

Meanwhile, Chloe in Year 8 tackled her science assessment without help and re-drew her graphs neatly after initially struggling with presentation.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hamilton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hamilton Public School.
