Inside CambewarraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Adeel focused on graphing quadratic functions and then moved into financial maths by solving simple interest problems.

Year 11 student Laaibah tackled networks, including definitions of paths and trails as well as questions involving circuits and the shortest path.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Tahlia worked through past HSC exam questions covering tax payable calculations, annuities, trigonometry, and using the least squares regression line for data analysis.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student often left working out unstructured—"set your working on a new line for each calculation," a tutor noted after multi-step ratio problems became hard to check.

In senior years, exam preparation sometimes meant only practicing familiar question types; during HSC revision, this limited confidence when facing unseen finance or network tasks.

Another high schooler struggled with over-reliance on formula sheets in trigonometry, leading to confusion when required to justify answers without prompts.

On several occasions, incomplete homework (such as bivariate data exercises) prevented full review of key concepts in the following session.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Cambewarra noticed Andrea, a Year 12 student, now pinpoints her own mistakes after exams and can explain why a different method works better—something she hesitated with before.

In another session, Laaibah (Year 11) worked through tough credit card questions and independently calculated daily interest rates and minimum payments; last term she needed frequent prompting to show all steps.

For a younger student, Isaak (Year 6) used to struggle with area and perimeter for composite shapes but now solves them unaided and even explains his reasoning as he works through multi-step problems.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Nowra (Central) Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cambewarra Public School.
