A tutor should not just be present to give the student all the answers. Its about building confidence and understanding the student’s way of thinking in order to help them grasp concepts and overcome their academic difficulties. Its about taking on a leadership and mentor role so that you can guide your student, and making them feel comfortable…

One of the most important things a tutor can do is focus on the areas that the student is struggling in and create a learning format that best allows the student to increase understanding in those areas and achieve the best mark possible. As a current university student of engineering and physics, I have a good level of understanding of STEM…

I think the most important thing is that they feel motivated to learn, and that going to a tutor would be a fun experience for them. With that, a tutor should be able to clearly teach students and that the student can confidently go to a tutor knowing that he or she will fully understand his or lessons. They should always feel that the learning…

A tutor should be able to provide good advice for a student with respect to the individual needs of the student. By being flexible, open and available to help students as much as possible, tutors have the capacity to develop a deep and meaningful connection with them and students will be able to trust and learn more from the tutor. As high school…

The biggest thing would be to help students understand that ignorance is not failure. Just because they don't know something "basic", that does not mean they are worse than others, or are stupider, or are not going to succeed. It simply means they were not taught in a way that makes sense to them. This could be for a number of reasons, and not…

As we all know, learning should not be restricted to getting good marks in any institution or to memorising lists of facts. The most important things that can be given are the motivation and ability to keep finding things out for oneself (and to fact check new information without relying on AI or internet rumour). Seeing and approaching topics…

Strengths: - strict and firm (not fierce) - emphasize on…

Erwin has been fantastic, we are very impressed with his professionalism and the way to approach Julian. He has provided clear feedback and the plan he has for his sessions. On top of this, He is an excellent role model as he is close to finish his engineering degree. Julian is very happy and committed.

Inside Cameron ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Lucy focused on advanced trigonometric concepts and algebraic techniques, revising for her trial HSC using past paper questions and summary sheets.

Year 11 student Alex worked through organic chemistry fundamentals, including hydrocarbon nomenclature and the structure of haloalkanes and alcohols, while also preparing for an upcoming test.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan practiced solving simultaneous equations and tackled exam-style problems on straight-line equations, with extra attention given to interpreting gradients and intercepts.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student relied heavily on the formula sheet for Normal Distribution problems, missing marks when unfamiliar formulas weren't provided—"he needs to add these extra formulas to his notes."

Meanwhile, in Year 8, one student's written algebra was hard to follow because she skipped writing full equations and rarely checked her steps.

For a Year 6 lesson, motivation dropped whenever a worded problem looked lengthy; extracting key data felt overwhelming and often led to incomplete answers.

In each case, gaps in note-taking or engagement meant confusion lingered into later sessions.

Recent Achievements

A Cameron Park tutor recently saw a Year 11 student, who previously hesitated to ask for help, now confidently tackle financial maths problems independently and even explain her reasoning out loud.

In another session with a Year 9 student, the tutor noticed a big shift: after weeks of guessing at algebraic questions, she began pausing to check her work step by step and solved four challenging equations on her own.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 4 moved from confusion about unit conversions to quickly switching between units without prompting—finishing all conversion tasks correctly by herself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sugar Valley Library, kirantakamyari—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Benedict's Primary School.
