Finding a suitable maths tutor for your child can be difficult. Where do you start? What do you look for? Experience? Personality? Someone local? Should they teach their own content or work on your child's current school work? How often should you have tutoring? How long should each session be? Is a particular time of the day more effective than other times? So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter....

So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter. It's really about finding someone who is a good match for your specific situation. That means a good personality match + a teaching style that matches the student's learning style + a good balance between empathy and authoritativeness + many other things.
Unfortunately no tutor profile can tell you if the tutor will be a good match. You won't know that until you see them working together.
It usually doesn't take us more than a few days to organise a maths tutor in Carnegie. And, we really want you to love your tutor! That's why your first lesson works as a trial. Don't think the match is good? We'll organise someone else...

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
The student sought understanding towards mathematical concepts discussed in lessons. Work was done in his book, questions and notes were written in this book along with being answered the students own writing to ensure there is an adequate transfer of knowledge. If mistakes were made, backchecking was encouraged and corrections were applied promptly.
Attitude is 100%.. Sienna is always smiling and loves the sessions. Cant complain about effort. Always eager to learn and asks questions. Really great to see Again, it's an area I feel she has a good grip on. Sienna is a very organized student and likes to keep on top of things. She has a good system in place with her mathematics notes and her notebook Keep these work Habits up!
Imogen's biggest problem areas are in trigonometry (particularly identifying missing angles) and working with fractions. In the sessions we've had I keep going back to these problem areas so we can continue to work on them.

Ryan has been great. Jordon is already understanding more of the content which is fantastic. His words were "Ryan explains things much better than my teacher, so I understand it better."
All is going well with David. He is always on time and explaining things well with Ella. They are working through her math book and things are moving forward which is great. She will continue with a tutor once she starts school in Malaysia.
Thank you for your email. Ben and David are working well together and it appears that the working relationship is positive. Interestingly, Ben has instantly been able to move to working with David as both David and Ben have in common the same secondary school that Ben is currently going to. So while David attended the school some years prior to Ben, and much has change, they were still able to compare experiences about the school which helped start them working constructively. We are very satisfied with continuing with David.
