Chemistry can seem abstract, learning about elements and matter, how equilibrium occurs and how chemical systems react. No wonder students get discouraged.
All it takes for a student to go from a mild distaste for chemistry to understanding what is scribbled in the textbook is someone to point out what to avoid and where to put in that extra hour of revision. It's like with any problem situation in schooling and even in their personal life, students need to know about using effective strategies. Then all you need is persistence, staying on task until you reach your goal.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
This month was mainly focused again on Chelsea's problem solving skills and question comprehension, and her exam strategies. Towards the last couple of weeks of the term, I think she did really well in applying memory pegs and triggers to help her absorb and learn the newer content which was needed for the exam.
Frank is keen to push the boundaries and ask questions when things don't make sense. I encourage him to continue doing this for active learning. Only thing we need to correct over the coming months is for him to build a suitable study routine led by himself.
- expanding algebra (don't forget to multiple the number outside with everything inside) - questions on tests: sometimes the questions are phrased in different ways which may look like we haven't covered it. I assure you that we have! Focus on finishing key words in the question and slowly unpack the question before you answer.
Nohemi is great. A very professional tutor with an easy going personality. Brayden has found her lessons quite helpful and has no issues with her teaching methods. As school returns from holidays this week we will see how successful tutoring has been (to-date). If nothing else, I do believe Nohemi has increased his confidence in Algebra.
Both yannick and lanah had their second lesson with Rachel on Monday and I am very happy with the way it is going. They are comfortable with her and feel they can communicate well with her.
Very happy with tutoring, Charles has been very helpful. Gilda and Charles are working well together.
