Effective communication is essential. This includes being able to explain concepts clearly and in a way that is easy to understand and being a good listener. Additionally, the ability to empathize with students and understand their challenges and frustrations can make a big difference in how they respond to tutoring. Tutoring often involves…

The most relevant things when it comes to tutoring are being able to connect with the student in a way that they feel motivated and find the help they need in order to learn. I believe students should have access to meaningful learning. I get along very well with children and teenagers and always find the way to motivate and encourage them to…

After studying for a long time, I concluded that when students engage with the topics, they tend to learn more easily. Therefore, the tutor must present the content in a creative and innovative way, seeking always feedback with the students on how much they are absorbing and only proceed when all the necessary foundations of the topic are clearly…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make them feel comfortable with the learning material and go up and beyond until they finally understand what they are learning. This requires patience, encouragement, and maybe a lot of explaining, but that is part of the job. I also think it is important to keep the student…

Other than helping a student genuinely understand the content in their course, I think that the most important thing a tutor can do for them is to help them in developing and implementing strategies to allow them to become independently successful. This may mean developing a better organisational process, implementing a system for completing tasks…

Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become a tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not only get…

Be able to explain in a way that the student can understand and be able to take that knowledge outside and be able to do problems by themself with confidance in themselves. First thing should be rapport building because it is very important to gain the trust and confidence of the student. Second would be establishing a set of routine so that the time in each session is used up efficiently. Lastly, tutors should effectively motivate students in achieving their goals as well as inspire them to improve each day. My…

Understanding self, and the acquisition of skill and knowledge are the most important things to give a student. Yes, the report card is an important ticket for students, and especially those in tutoring. But, all that knowledge will perish without use. The growth of the individual, who they are becoming through the process - a competent and…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is help a student find and maintain their motivation and enthusiasm for learning. Contacting EzyMath Tutoring was one of the best decisions that I have made for my grandaughter, not only did they get it right the first time with Reyna the follow up and communication sends EzyMath Tutoring to the "top of the class".

Inside CoolangattaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 Bella completed English worksheets on sentence structure, abbreviations, homonyms, and onomatopoeia, and worked through maths questions involving time from the EzyMath textbook.

In Year 9, Jeremy focused on exam revision for trigonometry—finding side lengths or angles in right triangles—and practised expanding brackets and factorising in algebra.

Meanwhile, Year 10 Willow tackled simplifying and performing operations with fractions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing), as well as converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions using targeted written problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12, one student entered a session unprepared for in-depth exam questions, having only revised the basics; as noted, "I wasn't prepared for the in-depth exam questions," which meant valuable lesson time was spent covering foundational material instead of tackling complex problems.

A Year 9 student did not bring paper to a maths lesson and could not complete area calculations—missing resources limited hands-on practice.

In Year 7 algebra, skipping written steps led to sign errors that were hard to trace later.

For a Year 5 writing task, unclear paragraph structure made quiz responses difficult to follow and left key ideas buried.

Recent Achievements

A Coolangatta tutor noticed Jeremy, a high school student, is now tackling trigonometry and algebra independently—where he once hesitated, he now attempts problems on his own and only asks for help after trying different approaches.

Willow, also in high school, used to second-guess herself with fractions but recently completed a grade-level worksheet unaided and could explain her steps clearly.

In primary sessions, Bella has begun to proofread her English assignments without prompting; last week she caught two grammar errors herself by rereading her paragraph before submitting it.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Coolangatta Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hillcrest Christian College - Coolangatta Campus.
