Learning biology is cumulative, you can't really skip any steps because the concepts are intricately interconnected. Before you can take on complex concepts and processes, you need to understand the basics. With the help of a tutor most students find it easier to learn how to use drawings and diagrams, read with purpose, utilize lab notes
and use the knowledge in new situations so it really sticks.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
- Talking aloud helps her think. Should continue doing this :) - Should always practice back checking or re-checking of solution and answers. Most of the time she skips this, that's why sometimes she gets the right answers but sometimes not.
His attitude has been terrific so far and is always so eager to learn and improve which is why I really enjoy tutoring Thomas. I can see that he puts in a lot of effort to understand things during my lessons but I need him to make sure he is learning his times tables and just spending around 20-30 minutes each week going through the notes him and I usually write down to review what I have taught him in the previous lesson on top of the questions I give him for homework.
I believe the student should try to be more confident in her answers during sessions. I also think that she tends to overanalyze some questions and miss the simplest of rules. E.g. only using a formulae to work out an answer when there would have been another approach which might have been simpler

We had our 1st session tonight with David and it went really well. My son connected with him immediately even though he was nervous about tutoring and didn't really want to do it prior to tonight. After he had his session with David he said it was fun! I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that and he asked that David come back next week instead of waiting a fortnight! We are very happy so far.
Things are going well with Amelia's tutoring and we are happy so far with the help Justin has given her. There was a decent improvement in her last maths assessment performance so that's a good sign!
We were all very impressed with Trent, Tamoe in particular. He was very patient and sought out a real connection with Tamoe. This really helped to get Tamoe to focus and listen. Tamoe is very keen to book in more time with Trent when school goes back.
