I personally believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be a role model and an educator. By this, the student is able to effectively learn and grow through encouragement and education, becoming better people - both academically and emotionally - for themselves and society. As mentioned in my resume, I believe that I have…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them understand what they themselves cannot. I believe it is a tutors job to also provide resources but the most important thing is to actually teach them what they cannot understand and once the tutor has done that then they can provide the adequate worksheets and past papers to…

help them with all the problems and teach them in such a way that they would find the problems easy. To teach the students fast and easy way of solving problems and how the could handle them. Patience. I would explain the same thing for 5-6 times. And i put a lot of effort in the person and teach them at their pace. I scrutinize on what areas they…

Give students the motivation that they are indeed smart enough to learn difficult concepts and apply them with ease. It is important not to confuse students especially those in younger years and also it is important to know about each students abilities and teach at a pace according to that. I have experience, am hard working and have a personally…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to realise when a student actually understands a topic, or if they need more help. Too often students will say that they understand but they don't want to admit they still don't. The tutor should be able to break down a subject in multiple ways, and choose which way fits particular students' learning…

The most important thing to be done, rather than jumping directly into the syllabus, is to listen to the students express their strengths and weaknesses in the subject. This is to be aware of where to allocate time with the student so we address what is most important and challenging to them. As a tutor, I maintain a flexible environment, trying…

Other than helping the student achieve their personal goals, It's also important to ensure that they develop a love for learning and instill a sense of discipline and responsibility. Everybody learns differently and I feel that I am able to understand and adapt my teaching style to better suit the students needs rather than force them to adapt to…

I think the most important thing for a tutor is to put the student first, making sure they understand the concept and are comfortable with the tutor. Having gone to tutoring myself I always found it difficult to ask questions if the tutor was judgmental or dismissed my questions. Since I'm still a student myself I believe I understand the…

Making learning fun. Students should be taught to love learning and not to look at it as a chore. Topics should be made fun and engaging, such as to hold their attention and urge the the students to ask questions. My style of teaching, asking though provoking questions as well as making complex topics easier for students to…

The most important thing would be to get them interested in academics so that they can pursue knowledge on their own initiative, as well as motivate them to do well in their studies. Good grades are also important, but not as much as those traits mentioned before. My ability to simplify difficult concepts so that an inexperienced person can pick…

Some of the most important things are: 1. The student will receive an individualised learning experience he or she can’t always get in a classroom setting. I can customise the lessons and activities just for your child. 2. I get to know your child’s individual learning style and can adapt teaching methods accordingly. 3.I will prepare your…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to build up a student's curiosity and grow their drive for learning. A student with genuine enjoyment and interest in the content they learn will achieve higher marks and have fun along the way. I can relate to the student on a personal level which helps me to understand the issues they might be having…

Inside Dean ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ava practised subtracting four-digit numbers and reviewed strategies for tackling five-digit numbers.

In Year 8, Josh worked on algebra skills by solving equations involving fractions and identifying the point of intersection between lines.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on advanced trigonometry, applying the sine rule to find unknown angles and using the cosine rule to calculate triangle side lengths in non-right-angled scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often rushed through multi-step problems in fractions, leading to missed working and confusion when reviewing errors—one tutor noted, "his homework was quite challenging to read," as cramped layout made mistakes hard to spot.

In Year 10 algebra, a student hesitated to write out steps due to uncertainty, so sign errors slipped past unnoticed.

Another (Year 7) struggled to keep work organized; forgotten or misplaced homework meant time was lost searching for notes instead of practicing new material.

When a Year 11 attempted trigonometry questions, skipping calculator checks led to repeated angle mix-ups and incomplete answers.

Recent Achievements

One Dean Park tutor noticed a real shift with Nick, a high school student who previously needed frequent help on algebraic fractions—he simplified complex expressions and solved equations almost independently. James, another high schooler, had been hesitant about simultaneous equations but now confidently eliminates variables and substitutes to find solutions on his own.

Meanwhile, Aaron in primary has started tackling division algorithms without reminders; he now volunteers strategies for practical word problems and checks his answers before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like William Dean Public School.
