Help them with issues that they cannot clarify anywhere else. Empathize with them and tell them things they can relate to. Help them get a better grade at the same time making them love the subject. I am a good listener, so I wait until the student tells me exactly what their issue is. I make sure my students are comfortable around me. I make…

I believe effective tutoring comes from understanding a student’s perspective when learning. A tutor who can do this can make lessons more engaging, identify learning barriers, and help students build genuine confidence and enjoyment in learning. Achieving this requires patience, empathy, and a willingness to understand each student’s…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to tailor to each student's unique strengths and weaknesses and providing tips, tricks and strategies based on this. With the goal of improving their understanding of the subject and therefore achieving greater success at the subject. My main strength is my work ethic and burning passion for…

Attention: A tutor should give full attention to their students and point out the weakness of their student and work on how to remove that weakness. Dedication: A tutor should develop an interest of subject to their students. Hardwork, dedication, determination and passion. I enjoy teaching Mathematics(Including General Math,…

The most significant thing of teacher can motivate students to earn knowledge. As well as they can guide their student by understanding their own way of learning. So, I think every student's learning technique is different. At first, I need to understand the enjoyable way of my student learning procedure. For example, some students enjoy learning…

According to me, the most difficult part of life is being a student. Because there is a strict rule that students must pass all the subjects even when they are already mastered their favorite subject of study. But they lose their confidence and focus in their mastered subjects and they get lower grades. But the most important thing is that there…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is provide questions weekly to test the understanding of a topic, i found that crucial during Year 12, the way you understand Maths and Physics is by applying the knowledge you were given in class to as many questions as possible so that during the HSC you are able to recognise patterns in…

The most important thing for a tutor to be able to do is to help the student develop their own abilities, and give them study habits and practices in class that will help the student to deepen their understanding of the underlying principles being taught. In my opinion, apart from knowledge transfer, tutors are responsible for igniting passion about the subject in students. As a general rule, students require tutors because of unenthusiastic and boring teachers at school. Therefore, the tutors must be the opposite to those teachers. I can tailor my explanations to the specific student. This way,…

Boost the confidence of the student in the subject and make the student put efforts consistently in the subject. There are some thig s which i consider can do for a student. A tutor shouldn’t just repeat what a students been taught by their teacher. I believe it’s important a tutor listens to their student and understands the areas they struggle in and need help with, and to further understand how that student learns as everyone learns in different ways. A tutor that understands their student will be capable of…

Inside East CorrimalTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alex worked through algebraic inequalities and financial maths questions, focusing on real-world applications and significant figures.

In Year 9, Jamie practised finding the perimeter of sectors in coordinate geometry and strengthened understanding of linear relationships by plotting equations on graphs.

For Year 6, Remi revised multiplication and division skills with targeted homework support and rapid-fire mixed operations to build confidence and accuracy.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 English, one student avoided reading assigned texts and preferred only familiar genres, limiting his ability to tackle upcoming school essays.

During a Year 10 Maths session, "he was reluctant to show working out on some of his maths questions," which could hide calculation errors and make revision harder.

In junior years, another student's written work was often messy and disorganized—particularly with fractions—making it difficult for him to track steps or revisit corrections.

For a Year 7 History assignment, heavy reliance on tutor guidance meant independent research and writing skills were not developed, leaving him frustrated after repeated attempts.

Recent Achievements

One East Corrimal tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 9 student who used to freeze when faced with tough algebra and Pythagoras problems; now, he asks clarifying questions and works through triangle sums independently.

In a senior session, another student showed initiative by requesting extra help on coordinate geometry equations, having previously waited for the tutor to guide every step.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who struggled with reading aloud at the start of term recently read an excerpt out loud from "School for Good and Evil" without stumbling—something he'd avoided before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Corrimal District Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Corrimal High School.
