Even if your child is doing fairly well in biology, with science there's always something new to master. Passing the exams or getting the grades they want is not a problem for most students, but what they sometimes miss is an opportunity to hone their learning skills.
Through science subjects, in particular, students gain transferable skills that are not only useful for other subjects but real-life problems as well. In reality, it's not just about the content, it's more about the way of thinking. Of course, exams and grades are important, but we've also found that students tend to react positively to tutors who show them these nuances in learning.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Good talking aloud (with prompting). Nadya does back-check, though possibly not as much as would be ideal, and some carried errors can arise from this, so we'll work on that. Very good note taking, formatting, and pen to paper habits; everything is neat, readable and easy to follow. While she does accept that it is okay to be wrong, confidence still needs building up (and she needs to stop telling herself that maths is hard and that she isn't good at it, because that's not very helpful).
Maddi works hard during each lesson, which is great. She is encouraged to ask for help outside of lessons when she needs it, however. Asking the teacher at school for help is a good habit to get into.
Her main problem area is with linear functions so I will try to devote at least a little bit of time towards that each week, so that when a harder functions topic inevitably comes up, she will be able to follow along and understand in class. Also, a minor problem that I am trying to correct is to get Ashley into the habit of writing down the full question and setting out working neatly. It will help a lot when it comes to revising for exams.

Madison has now had two sessions with Emma, they seem to be going well, Emma is very personable, has been working on some practice sheets with Madison for an upcoming maths test. All seems well so far.
It is going well with Gerard. Gerard is focusing on homework each week and then extending him in certain areas, such as fractions and decimals, which he finds hard. Luke has mentioned that he has learnt some new ways of approaching some problems and algorithms, which has made him feel more confident at school. Gerard has a lovely manner and appears to relate well to Luke.
Gabie really likes Michael and his way of teaching. We are very happy with him so far. I am very impressed with your staff so far.
