Become a role model and help inspire them to become the best version of themselves. I want to be someone who can help them expand their horizon for learning. And understand that maths and science isn't their enemy. Studying isn't their enemy. I feel what's most important is being an educator not a grader. Patience, and repetition, never…

In my opinion, a tutor should help to build up the confidence of students by making sure that they understand the topics/concepts and have the desired exam skills . I have patience to deal with students who come from different background and age group. Furthermore, I make sure two-way communication during the mentoring sessions and will always…

In general, I believe that the best way to teach Maths/Science is in a way which the student understands the concepts rather than just giving the student a method to produce an answer, which is how these subjects are commonly taught. 1. I am self-directed, energetic, and enthusiastic. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering + Management…

A tutor is a magician to the students. He can't do magic but he can do wonders if the chemistry between the tutor. The most important thing is the tutor will be a friend to the student without actually being a friend. The magic lies here. The mentality that I never give up. I was not a very gifted student so I had to work hard to understand…

With this approach, a student can see one topic in more different way and learn more and more. It's essential to be understanding and listen to students as not all the students are the same or behave the same in a class. Therefore, a tutor must understand the extraordinary things about each student and act in a way so every student would be interested in engaging with the class. I believe understanding this point can help every child to…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make the student feel supported and confident. A lot of students actually understand more than they think, but they might be anxious, unsure, or afraid of making mistakes. So I see my role as creating a space where they feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Another…

A tutor's role goes beyond teaching academic content. Creating a positive learning environment, adapting to diverse learning styles, and offering clear explanations are crucial. A tutor should be more than just a teacher to them, they should be their friend, their go-to person in case of doubts and someone who's always willing to listen while…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do is they make the student no longer need a tutor. Where they can confidently take exams, plan out problems on their own. A tutor’s job is carving that path for them the proper way by encouraging them in a positive environment where the student wants to learn more. I like to teach in a casual…

As a math and physics tutor, motivating students to do more practice questions is the best thing I can do for them. The most important thing any sort of teacher or mentor can do for not just students, but anyone, is to make sure the students believe in themselves and their abilities, for that will take them beyond any test or assignment. What is also important is to make sure the students have fun while learning, for that will ensure that whatever they are…

100% Motivation and ensuring they feel like they have a support structure whose best interest is to see them succeed. Provide the student with confidence in their own learning ability. Inside FlemingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Alice worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range in statistics as well as identifying angles with symmetry using visual examples.

In Year 9, Bita practised solving linear equations and worked through a worksheet on mean, median and mode provided by her teacher.

For Year 10, Laura focused on revising algebra and graphing techniques from the Year 11 curriculum to strengthen her foundation for upcoming studies.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for a statistics test hesitated to share which probability topics felt hardest, making it difficult to target weak spots; her notebook was also missing dates, so tracking progress became confusing.

In Year 9 algebra, as one tutor put it, "he skipped showing steps in simplification, which hid sign errors"—extra time was then spent hunting mistakes instead of building confidence.

A Year 7 student left homework incomplete before lessons and struggled with organizing exercise books and teacher feedback requests.

During Year 12 revision, reluctance to attempt unfamiliar graph questions led to gaps ahead of the upcoming test.

Recent Achievements

One Flemington tutor noticed a big change in a Year 11 student who used to freeze up on tough algebra questions—now, after working through some challenging Further Maths problems, he confidently explained his reasoning and tackled even the trickiest ones without hesitation.

In another session, a Year 9 student who'd struggled to distinguish between explanatory and response variables was able to clearly verbalise his thought process and correctly identify each one during practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who once guessed at answers now talks through her multiplication steps out loud and checks her work before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kensington Community High School.
