Constantly checking up on them. Not in just terms of their learning (granted, it is very important) but also how they are feeling about the study and the method of teaching. I believe everyone can be taught any concept, but everyone has a different learning style and a tutor that can identify this for the student and teach them appropriately will…

Teaching the content and helping them fully grasp it, rather than doing it for them. I find that a lot of subjects have a particular rhythm to them; although some require rote learning (like particular concepts, especially within math), there are always patterns that can be identified so that students achieve their very best. For example: Stage 2…

I consider the most important thing as a tutor is the success of my student academically through personalised lessons. I feel an obligation to ensure that my students pass or exceed in the topics they bring to the lessons and aim to empower them to create independent learners. I believe the most important thing which a tutor can do for a student is not only teach them what they need to know but teach them the skills which they need to succeed on their own. I believe this because although a tutor can help with their learning, they can't be there every single step of the way, especially after high school. These skills…

It would have to be that a tutor can teach a student a one on one lesson and help him improve his understanding about different ways to approach a maths or english problem which will in turn help the student extremely in the future. Local Reviews

We were very happy with the tutor Shan and hope to work with him in the next two terms. He has quickly caught on to the requirements that need to be met for our daughter Izabella.
Beata, Greenwith

Inside GreenwithTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Dominic focused on understanding integers and evaluating numeric expressions, then practiced converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions.

For Year 10, Abigail tackled techniques for factoring quadratic expressions in different formats and explored early concepts in statistics, including key terminology.

Meanwhile, Laura in Year 12 worked through rules for differentiation with various functions and reviewed foundational ideas around antiderivatives and integrals.

Recent Challenges

Across the senior levels, a Year 12 student preparing for exams was noted as "working on clarifying concepts," but did not consistently seek or apply feedback on earlier misunderstandings in calculus and algebra, sometimes moving forward without resolving foundational gaps.

In Year 8, one student frequently asked for extra problems during sessions but occasionally overlooked reviewing their own working when errors were found in fraction operations—"he prefers to try another question rather than check his steps." This pattern led to repeated mistakes instead of building lasting confidence from corrections made on the spot.

Recent Achievements

A Greenwith tutor recently noticed that Dominic, a Year 10 student, has shifted from waiting passively for instruction to actively requesting extra practice—especially after tackling frequency distributions and graphing.

Abigail in Year 11 used to hesitate when faced with tricky probability rules but now quickly recognises patterns and applies them independently, only needing an occasional hint.

In a younger session, Laura (Year 5) who previously avoided asking for help, now brings specific questions forward for clarification before moving on.

Last week, Dominic finished a set of fraction conversions without any prompts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Salisbury Community Hub Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of Hope School.
