I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to deepen/ignite their interest in the area which they are teaching or make a student come to love a subject they struggled with before. Furthermore, as a tutor, I feel that helping a student build a strong foundation of knowledge is important as future knowledge they learn would…

The most important things are: Keep communicating and observing, to custom the different methods for different level students. Be patience to answer the questions, and then guide the students to understand the questions and find the answers. I have solid background in academic study and research to share my knowledge and skills with students.…

For a student, the worst thing a tutor can do is to strike fear into them about their progress or their work. I consider a tutor's job to support the student in every way: academically, physically, and psychologically. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide them with realistic hopes: to stand from our perspectives and…

In my opinion, improving students' academic performance is important, but is not the ultimate goal. I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to teach students good learning methods and improve their self-study ability, which makes them benefit for life. Firstly, I am a easy going, gentle, kind, and friendly person. It is easy for me to…

A good tutor can teach a student how to improve himself to become a better person, not only in academic life, but also in the real world. The aim for teaching is to deliver virtue and the attitude of learning to the children, and let them continue to learn and improve in the future. I will always support and encourage my student with my best…

The most important thing I can do as a tutor is to empower students to become independent learners. This means teaching them not just the subject matter, but also critical thinking and study skills, and fostering a supportive environment for their growth As a tutor, I excel in creating a supportive learning environment and adapting to students'…

I think the most important thing for tutor is to boost curiosity and build confidence for students within their acceptable limits. Tutors should always be responsible and supportive to students learning environments. My strength are patience, passion, and student-centered. Create a fun and comfortable environment for students to learn in. Be a positive influence and role model for the student and always encourage them. Patience, therefore it's okay if a student takes time to fully understand a topic, I can slowly guide them through. Friendliness, so the student wouldn't feel uncomfortable or pressured when…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to help students build confidence in their own ability to learn. Tutoring isn’t just about explaining the content. It’s more about creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A good tutor listens carefully, understands what the student needs, and…

Be respectful and patient. It's essential to understand the students' needs and preferred methods of learning, as everyone's habits are so different. It's best to approach the lessons with the student's perspective in mind. I am a patient, down-to-earth person who prefers having a friendly relationship with the student so that they will feel…

A tutor should understand that different students have different levels of interests and requirements in Math. For those who merely wants to pass their exams, I would teach them the application of mathematical methods. For those who are interested in math, I would explain to them the principles and deeper logics of mathematical phenomenons beneath…

Adapting my teaching style according to different student's needs, and focusing on the topics that my students need help with the most, ensuring your students especially those in younger year levels have a solid base of basic maths skills, such as algebra skills, in order to succeed in their future harder maths studies. Helping them grow, both academically and in extracurricular aspects. Study wise, making sure they understand the concept of the question instead of 'how to do the question'; know what the formula represents not what the formula is. Also using the wisdom I have gained throughout the years to guide them in problem solving in things that are outside…

Ezymath tutoring made an effort to provide my daughter with a tutor who had a maths specialty. Ella was polite, punctual and spent the time to understand and assist my daughter in her weak areas.
Pam, Heidelberg Heights

Inside Heidelberg HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Emily explored factorising and substitution in complex algebraic expressions to build foundational skills.

For Year 10, Marcus worked through scatter plots and used Pearson's coefficient to interpret bivariate data visually and numerically.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Olivia focused on least square regression lines for statistical analysis, as well as reviewing data transformation methods relevant for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student sometimes forgot essential materials—her maths books and calculator—which meant gaps in tracking what concepts she'd struggled with.

In VCE, one student's written solutions for statistics were "hard to follow," making it tough to pinpoint errors or show full working for exam marks.

Several times across Years 7–10, answers were mathematically correct but missed the actual question requirement; as one tutor noted, "she answered with a valid calculation, but not what was asked."

When students misinterpret questions or leave their resources behind, class time gets spent on clarifying basics rather than pushing ahead.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Heidelberg Heights noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after previously hesitating to speak up, now asks for clarification whenever something doesn't make sense and then applies the feedback to solve practice questions accurately.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student managed to get through an entire chapter ahead of their class for the first time—last term they struggled just to keep pace.

For a younger learner, one primary school student who was reluctant to try tougher maths problems is now willing to attempt more complicated questions independently and often persists until finding a solution.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Rosanna Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Pius X School.
