A tutor can explain the main concept, however, the related questions must be solved by the student itself as it promotes the concept of self-learning. As a tutor, I can sometimes unkowingly become their biggest cheerleader and that could really help them overcome any emotional stress that could become a hindrance in their studies. Therefore, a…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is helping around with the difficulties the student is facing in their curriculum. Improving on their weaknesses on the whole improves the quality of learning and makes them more viable to achieve their potential. Offer the tools for them to solve the problem themself. Give them the understanding and knowledge to get to the answer rather than just giving them the answer. My strength might be my enthusiasm for the subject and a weakness might be that I loose track of time and might spend too long focusing on one area without allowing time to work on other…

I assert that successful tutors are able to build strong relationships with their students as it personalizes learning. Another thing is to teach to the student's strengths and minimizes the students weaknesses. Every student and their way of learning is different, so, as a tutor, one should be flexible according to the needs of the perplexed…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be there for them and understand their strengths as well as weaknesses. Putting things in an easy way and guiding the students to think this way to solve the problem. This is very important, especially in maths and science subjects, the key for students to improve is by really understanding and the best way to check is to are they able to explain it back to you on another day, not to memorize by hard, maths also not…

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to develop a passion for the subject. This is essential as it encourages the student to not only thrive in school but also in their out of school learning, making the process of learning much easier for both the student and the parent. To achieve this, it's important to…

Give the student confidence in themselves that they can do it. Without confidence, a student cannot make significant improvements as they don't believe in themselves and thus, won't put effort into their learning. Also, to have a student-tutor relationship that entails the tutor does not hold the position like that of a school teacher but still…

It would have to be that a tutor can teach a student a one on one lesson and help him improve his understanding about different ways to approach a maths or english problem which will in turn help the student extremely in the future. Inside Ingle FarmTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Emily focused on simplifying ratios and dividing mixed numbers, using practical examples to build understanding.

Year 8 Marley worked through converting decimals to percentages and revisited multiplication basics for fluency.

For Year 7 Lilah, sessions included reading both analogue and 24-hour time as well as practicing addition and multiplication with large numbers to support her school topics.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often missed the final step when converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, occasionally swapping digits or skipping over key steps—she needs to go through some steps again so that there are no small mistakes such as numbers being swapped around.

In a separate Year 5 session, a student hesitated to start worded problems independently and required repeated encouragement before attempting solutions.

For both, this meant less time spent building independence and confidence, as attention was diverted from consolidating new concepts toward double-checking basic processes and waiting for prompts.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Ingle Farm noticed a big change with Duaa, who used to rush through reading without understanding the story—now she pauses to explain what happened on each page and asks questions about new words.

Meanwhile, Emily (Year 7) had been mixing up steps when dividing fractions but last week worked through mixed number division almost independently, only needing reminders for one step.

Another win came from Marley (Year 11), who at first was hesitant in their initial lesson but quickly built strong rapport with the tutor and engaged fully throughout the session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ingle Farm Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ingle Farm Primary School.
